Opening doors to sharing on social networking sites

A NEW generation of camera begins as Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) unveils its revolutionary Connected Camera that lets photography enthusiasts do much more than just take pictures.
With the inclusion of 3G- connectivity and enhanced WiFi-capability equipped with Dual Band and Channel Bonding, the Samsung Galaxy Camera now allows users to shoot and share high-quality images and videos on-the-spot.
The camera is now an open door to limitless sharing on social networking sites namely Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.
Boasting a 21x super-long zoom lens and a super-bright 16-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, the camera also features Samsung’s Smart Mode technology which comes bundled with 15 default modes that let users deliver professional-looking photography effortlessly.
As for those more proficient in photography, there is the M (Manual) Mode onboard the device for better control, rendering settings – from shutter speed to the amount of megapixel desired – customisable like a DSLR camera.
If the pictures are undesirable, users can edit them immediately on its vibrant 4.8-inch HD Super clear LCD touch display.
There are a comprehensive set of 35 photo-editing tools through the Photo Wizard feature that allows users to make unique professional edits quickly and easily.
The multi-purpose camera is Samsung’s first camera to run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and it features a 1.4Ghz quad-core processor.
This also means that the camera can transform into a quick internet-browsing device that offers access to the countless applications currently available on Google Play Store.
“The only thing it cannot do that a smartphone can is make cellular voice calls,” said Vincent Chong Weng Kai, head of mobile phone division Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn Bhd.
“But because it is an Android device, you can easily download messaging apps such as Chat On, Whatsapp and Skype for video calls,” Chong added.
In other words, as Victor Ng (product manager of Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn Bhd) puts it, the Samsung Galaxy Camera is a camera that delivers high quality photos with the connectivity of a smartphone.
He also mentioned that according to the CIPA (Camera & Imaging Products Association) standards, the camera’s 1,650mAh battery is capable of shooting up to 340 pictures in a single charge but battery life in general will vary depending on the individual user’s usage.
He also added that the reason why Samsung chose Android as the camera’s operating system is for its vast arsenal of apps because the Galaxy camera is a lot more than just for shooting pictures.
It is meant to be a marriage between the best of the digital imaging and the smartphone world.
The Samsung Galaxy Camera is available at all authorised Samsung retailers priced at RM1,899.
As an added bonus, Samsung Malaysia Electronics will also throw in a free battery worth RM89.
In addition, following a partnership with Maxis Bhd, the telecommunication company is offering a free Hotlink Broadband SIM Pack worth RM388 to the first 5,000 camera owners.
The pack comes with 2GB of data, 25GB Maxis Loker personal cloud storage space and a one-year SIM validity period.
The Hotlink SIM offer is available nationwide at selected Samsung retailers as well as Maxis Centres in KLCC, Sunway Pyramid and Gardens Mid Valley.
